Rules of Entry
General
Entries can be on any subject in any style or form but must incorporate the theme of "Ghanaian dreams in motion".
Please check that you are submitting the correct version of your work before uploading as mistakes cannot be rectified later.
There are no entry fees
Deadline
Deadline date for submission is May 23rd, 2022 by 12 midnight (GMT).
Entries submitted after the deadline will be immediately disqualified.
Format
Titles are not to be included in word count
Do not add cover or title pages
Font type & size: Times New Roman, 12pt
Double line spaced
Number the pages in the centre at the bottom of the page
Save the file as a Microsoft Word document – .doc or .docx. Maximum allowed file size is 2Mb
The file name should be the title of the story only, typed exactly the same as in the document
Do not include your name in the file title or it will be disqualified
For untitled pieces, save the document with the first line of the story/poem instead
Judging
The Panel’s decision is final and no individual correspondence can be entered into.
Judges are unable to comment on individual entries.
Judging is fair and unbiased.
Submissions will be judged on the following criteria:
- Originality
- Plot
- Characterisation
- Structure
- Language
- Message
- Relevance
Copyright
Participants retain all rights to their entries, but taking part in the competition implies accepting that the organising body retains unlimited, non-exclusive rights to reproduction without further compensation.
The winning essays and any other essay submitted for the competition may be published by the organising body as it deems fit.
The organising body reserves the right, at its sole and absolute discretion, to use names and information about participants without obtaining further consent from the participant or providing any payment whatsoever to the participant for any commercial or non-commercial endeavours, publicity, advertising, trade or promotion in perpetuity.
The organising body reserves the right to modify the format and content of submissions for publication purposes.
Results & Awards
Winners and the top 9 highly commended entrants per category will be notified by email and/or phone call
Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted
Results will be posted on the website
Winners should be ready and willing to engage with the media after results have been posted.
